Who is Lorna "Polaris" Dane?

Lorna Sally Dane is the daughter of Erik "Magneto" Lehnsherr and Susanna Dane. She is also known as the long time X-Man Polaris.

Relationships

Lorna is the daughter of Erik "Magneto" Lehnsherr who is alive and aware of her.
Her mother, Susanna Dane, died in an accident when Lorna was 3, an accident that Lorna was in part responsible for.
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are her siblings unless a change is requested and agreed to.
Lorna is happy to meet new relatives but does not and will not interact or acknowledge all of them.

Versions

Lorna is verse flexible and will adapt within reason to other characterizations. That being said there are a few currently worked out options for integration into the MCU.

Relationships

Lorna Sally "Polaris" Dane was born to Susanna and Arnold Dane, after their deaths she was taken in and raised by Arnold's sister. Lorna would meet Zala Dane who claimed to be her sister and interact with her briefly. She has no contact with any living member of the Dane family and has not spoken to any of them since she publicly came out as a mutant.The revelation about her connection to Magneto came later in life, ironically while she was working for him on Genosha. Despite the numerous traumatic events that have come throughout her life, Lorna still holds to the rather childish belief that if she does "enough" then she will earn the love and attention of her family.What she wants more than anything is to be accepted and to have somewhere she belongs. Even as the world turns and relationships fracture. if she is enough then her family at least will never abandon her.

AU Versions

There are a few options for guidelines around the integration of Lorna into the MCU. These are flexible to a point and should be discussed before starting any serious interaction.

  • 1. 616- Based

  • Lorna is aware of all current events to date, but is written very differently. She considers the Maximoff's her siblings (baring writer agreement otherwise), and has been through the therapy she needed to deal with her extreme trauma. She is overall caring and supportive, choosing to provide the support for others that she was effectively denied. She is afraid of being abandonded, and so tries to take on a role where people can and will depend on her so they can't just leave.

  • 2. MCU Option 1

  • Each MCU option is based in the belief that Lorna is the younger sister of the Maximoff twins. In each version she retains her powers for reasons that can be discussed between writers. - Lorna Maximoff was born in Sokovia, she was an infant when the bomb hit that orphaned the children. See options 1-A and 1-B for further information and options.

  • 3. MCU Option 1-A

  • Each MCU option is based in the belief that Lorna is the younger sister of the Maximoff twins. In each version she retains her powers for reasons that can be discussed between writers. - Around age 6, a representative of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters visited and offered Lorna a place in America. At that point in time, she was the only one with obvious powers; they accepted. - Unless it is established that Wanda and/or Pietro reached out, Lorna tried to contact them only to be turned away. She is somewhat bitter due to a sense of abandonment by her family.

  • 4. MCU Option 1-B

  • Each MCU option is based in the belief that Lorna is the younger sister of the Maximoff twins. In each version she retains her powers for reasons that can be discussed between writers. - Sometime within the first year after being orphaned, an American woman named Susanna Dane offered to adopt Lorna. Despite not wanting to lose their sister, the twins agreed (Or were forced to). Susanna Dane died at some point making it difficult to impossible for Lorna to find her family.

  • 5. MCU Option 2

  • Each MCU option is based in the belief that Lorna is the younger sister of the Maximoff twins. In each version she retains her powers for reasons that can be discussed between writers. - Erik thought his entire family had died, despite his morning he eventually moved on. Lorna was born after the Maximoff's were orphaned as far as they were aware. Probably knows who her father is, but not much about the twins. She knows that she had siblings, but she doesn't know much about them.

  • 6. MCU Option 3

  • Each MCU option is based in the belief that Lorna is the younger sister of the Maximoff twins. In each version she retains her powers for reasons that can be discussed between writers. - Lorna is the product of an affair, the twins don't know about her and she doesn't know about them.
